Synopsis:
‘Victory’ is the story of a father, Ram Shekhawat (Anupam Kher), who saw an impossible dream for his son, the dream of making his son a famous cricketer. This is also the heroic dream of his son Vijay Shekhawat (Harman).

Hailing from the small town of Jaisalmer, Vijay Shekhawat becomes India’s latest world-class batting sensation and is catapulted into stardom.

But it is the glamour and glitter of this very demi-God status that makes the young, vulnerable small-town boy Vijay stray away from the true vocation of cricket. Unfortunately, this leads to a loss of focus and to a miserable drop in his performance. But by the time Vijay realizes the error of his ways, it is too late. Vijay finds himself thrown out of the Indian cricket team because of disciplinary reasons.

In one fell swoop, the hero of the cricket-crazy India becomes a villain in everyone’s eyes. His father Ram Shekhawat’s dreams are shattered and the old man suffers a paralytic stroke.

This tragedy awakens Vijay’s conscience and his sense of honour. He wants to redeem himself in the eyes of his father and every Indian. Against great odds, he makes it back to the Indian team and gets to play in the finals of the Champions Trophy against Australia, where he plays a stellar role in enabling India to win the trophy.

In this match, Vijay fulfills his father’s dream and enters the pantheon of Indian cricket.

‘Victory’ promises to be a definitive cricket film. Nadal continued to use efficiency as his greatest asset as he won 72 percent of his first serves and hit just 25 unforced errors in a match that lasted more than five hours. While Verdasco hammered out 20 aces and hit 95 winners he was done in by 76 unforced errors.

Nadal has won five Grand Slam singles titles including four at the French Open and his first Wimbledon title last year. Three of his French Open titles and his Wimbledon crown came at the expense of Roger Federer. Nadal’s best finish at the Australian Open was a semi-final appearance last year.

Nadal has fought off the competition in style and Federer has fought off the competition with pure class. If this final is anything like Wimbledon 08 when Nadal met Federer in the final, then tennis fans are in for a treat.

Federer v Nadal will be streamed online live at 05:00am (GMT) on Sunday 1st of February.

Now, on February 1 2009, tennis fans will see a repeat of last year's clashes with Federer in the finals of Roland Garros and Wimbledon, both won by Nadal.

Not for the faint of heart, this latest entry in the Afro Samurai series continues a tremendous effort in line drawing style animation, and may by some be seen as frequently a bit too abrupt in frame-to-frame action, but it manages to be so well aligned within the graphic novel genre (so that if you blink during sequences what you retain may be a panel by panel view of what the story needs, and what a comic reader wants). I give it the 10 of 10 full rating as a classic piece that works very well without the usual massive CGI effects most folks seem to expect these days in anything considered 'animated'. Yes, it is more than a bit bloody in nature, but contains a message 'of honor' and more fundamental - the message to carry on if you believe in something. Very well done, thank you Samuel Jackson for the terse comments from a no nonsense character. I highly recommend this film, but it is not for young kids...

Plot:
Paul Blart is a mild-mannered, dutiful family father who works as a security guard in a New Jersey mall. It’s 1964, St. Nicholas in the Bronx. Captains gear up for tough challenge

Both Mahela Jayawardene and Mahendra Singh Dhoni are expecting the five-ODI contest, which starts on January 28 in Dambulla, to be a closely-fought affair. India edged out Sri Lanka 3-2 in the ODIs during their visit in July-August last year, but the hosts are confident about their prospects after their recent 2-1 success in Pakistan.

“It’s going to be a tough, challenging series but we are looking forward to that challenge,” Jayawardene said. “Things happened for us in Pakistan which is good. We should try and continue that trend.

“I put the success that we had in Pakistan [down] to the way we successfully adapted to the tough conditions in Zimbabwe and in Bangladesh,” he added. “A lot of younger guys put their hands up and a lot of character was shown in our team. In different situations certain players played really well. That gave a lot of guys the confidence going forward.

“The way we lost the first game in Pakistan was really tough for us. We had a chat and we knew exactly what went wrong and the next two games was history. The way our boys played was brilliant. The last three months have taught us quite a few lessons and hopefully we’ll learn from that and continue to improve as a unit.”

While Sri Lanka have been on the road for the past three months, India have enjoyed successes at home, against Australia and England, and the luxury of a break in a cramped schedule thanks to the cancellation of the Pakistan tour - the absence of which has led to Sri Lanka playing both teams.

In the 3-2 win last time around, Dhoni won four tosses, which he felt would play a vital role. “It’s not the weather but the wickets behave in a strange way in Sri Lanka,” he said. “The ball grips on and it is slightly slower. In the last one-and-a-half years you have venues like Dambulla and Premadasa Stadium where it seams around in the evening especially under the lights. If it is a day game in Dambulla the ball does a lot. That’s why the toss is very important.”

India will be without an experienced campaigner in Harbhajan Singh, and Dhoni said it was a chance for left-arm spinners Pragyan Ojha and the uncapped Ravindra Jadeja to prove their mettle. “Harbhajan has been the pick of the bowlers when it comes to spinners,” Dhoni said. “He is one person who wants to perform in a game. We will miss him. We have two spinners in the side Pragyan Ojha and Ravindra Jadeja who will try to fill in the space. We also have part-timers who have done well.”

With the pitches favouring spin, Dhoni does not foresee a tough time for them. “One plus point is that over here the spinners get the assistance from the wicket,” he said. “It won’t be really tough for them if they find a good length. It will be comparatively easy compared to a wicket that doesn’t assist them and favours the batsmen. It’s a fair opportunity for both the spinners to prove themselves when your leading spinner is not there.”

Movie Review: The President is Coming; Star Cast: Konkona Sen Sharma, Shernaz Patel, Ira Dubey, Vivek Gomber, Satchit Puranik, Namit Das, Anand Tiwari and Shivani Tanksale; Director: Kunaal Roy Kapur; Rating: ** - uninteresting movie.

The movie review of the film, ‘The President Is Coming’ is dashed off for you. The film is a comedy, which is directed by the debutante Kunal Roy Kapoor, carries the star cast ranging from Konkona Sen Sharma, Shernaz Patel, Ira Dubey, Vivek Gomber, Satchit Puranik, Namit Das, Anand Tiwari to Shivani Tanksale. The movie was well in news since it is based on the visit of the President George Bush to India in 2006.

Bollywood has been experiencing innovative subjects for quite a few years on the celluloid. Some succeed and the rest fail but due to flaws otherwise you cannot blame to the subjects. Because to present a good subject on the silver screen, you need to have mastery skills, which most of our filmmakers lack in…! Sometimes, they (directors) do not get support from the writers and this way, a good subject goes waste since a worthy script cannot be written on…! All this happens and besides this, luck too has a role to play, which sometime makes a bad film rise high in the sky and a good film to downwards!

‘President Is Coming’ is laced with an intelligent script since it depicts many social issues confidently in a humorous manner. The flick has a bunch of youngsters keen on shaking hands with U.S. President George Bush when he arrives India in the year 2006. The story follows the frenzy of the US consulate that has been allocated the task of finding one Indian who represents the youth of the country and would be the chosen one to shake hands with the President.

The movie also pours light on the social issues like male chauvinism, gay relations, homosexuality and brain drain. But the writer refused to make it a serious enterprise that fights for social awareness instead a light approach on these subjects has been taken into account. First half of the film is very interesting and looks bright. But the second half appears dull since it does not carry weight.

Konkona Sen Sharma plays writer, who thinks that she is an ideal contestant because she is a booker prize winner. There are other contestants, which include software engineer casteist communal MBA, businessman, desi Hollywoodian, social worker, accent trainer and others.

The director could not make it a polished film, as the subject of the film shows. The movie looks monotonous in appearance on screen. A few sequences like the communal praising Urdu poems and participants getting tested on their views on Osama and Nelson Mandela are worth noticing.

Konkona Sen Sharma has potential and it shows in her acting. Satchit Puranik, Vivek Gomber, Namit Das, Shernaz Patel and Shivani Tanksale all impress.

Story

maska Krish Jagarlamudi (not the Gamyam director, but hero Ram) is a spoilt brat who looks for shortcuts to earn fame and money. Unable to clear his graduation and get a job, Krish plans to love and marry a rich girl Manju (Sheela) who is going to USA. In the process he meets another girl Meenu (Hansika Motwani) and really falls in love with her. The rest of the story is all about when both these girls come to know about the cheating nature of Krish. There is also a political twist to the story.

Story
blade babji Blade Babji (Allari Naresh) is a pickpocket who takes up the mission of earning 4 crores to rescue the slum dwellers in his area from a builder. He and his gang go to Vizag and rob a bank. And they hide the loot in a building under construction. They were forced to go away for a month and when they return they find a police control room at the spot where they hidden their loot. In order to retrieve the loot, Blade Babji takes the position of newly joined Krishna Manohar (spoof of Pokiri) by kidnapping him. The rest of the story is all about the comedy of errors that followed.

The first-ever Bollywood kung fu action comedy, the film brings together the two largest Asian communities, India and China, on one cinematic canvas.

Starring Bollywood’s biggest action star, Akshay Kumar, the film parallels the actor’s own journey to fame: Kumar worked as a cook before pursuing his passion for martial arts.

Chandni Chowk to China also stars stunning model-turned-actress Deepika Padukone, Bollywood veteran Mithun Chakraborty, Ranvir Shorey, and Chinese martial arts expert and actor Gordon Liu (Kill Bill: Vols. 1 and 2).

Nikhil Advani (Kal Ho Na Ho) directed the film from a screenplay by Shridhar Raghavan (Bluff Master, Khakhee). Ramesh Sippy, Mukesh Talreja and Rohan Sippy are the producers.

The film also features stunts choreographed by veteran martial arts stunt coordinator Huen Chiu-Ku, whose credits include Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon, Kill Bill: Vols. 1 and 2 and The Mummy: Tomb of the Dragon Emperor. The musical trio Shankar, Ehsaan and Loy composing the eclectic score, an eclectic Indo-Chinese fusion inspired by the music of China and India.

Chandni Chowk to China focuses on the epic heroic journey of Sidhu (Kumar), a simple cook from Chandni Chowk who longs to escape his dreary existence and looks for shortcuts with everything from astrologers and tarot readers to a magic potato, believing in anything and everything except himself. His fate changes when two strangers from China claim him to be a reincarnation of a war hero from the past and enlist him to come back with them to their village in China.

His opportunistic translator, Chopstick (Ranvir Shorey), tells Sidhu of the women, wine and princely existence that await him in foreign lands; what Chopstick doesn’t tell him is that he has become the village’s best hope to take on the vicious gangster Hojo (Gordon Liu), who has been terrorizing them. Along the way, Sidhu meets Sakhi, played by Deepika Padukone (Om Shanti Om), a stunning TV model who has embarked on her own adventure to pay homage to the land of her birth, her dead father and twin. Padukone also portrays Sakhi’s long-lost twin sister, Meow.

Soon, Sidhu realizes he is in way over his head and faces imminent defeat without a miracle. Only at his lowest point does he meet a Kung Fu master (Roger Yuan) who can help Sidhu find his inner hero, set the village free, and pursue the love of his life.

Chandni Chowk to China was shot at locations across Asia, including the Great Wall of China, Thailand and India.

Chandni Chowk to China will be distributed in North America by Warner Bros. Pictures, a Warner Bros. Entertainment Company. The film’s release will mark one of the largest for any Bollywood film in the United States

‘Raaz’ was a hit movie and it is expected that its sequel will be equally impressive but the movie “Raaz - The Mystery Continues” is not a sequel of ‘Raaz’ although it can be said to be another horror movie form Bhatt camp. Last years success of RGV’s ‘Phoonk’ and ’1920’ might have encouraged Mukesh Bhatt to plan another movie with a horror subject and it was made in name of a hit movie ‘Raaz.’
The story of the film ‘Raaz The mystery continues’ is about an artist Prithvi who generally paints something mysterious and his paintings foretell incidents. The painter paints about women whom he never met and later he tries to search for the girl. Once he paints that the girl is dead. He finds the girl Nandita who refuses to believe that the story of the painter and her boyfriend is also not interested in ghostly stories of the painter.

Later an accident changes her perception about the paintings and she feels that to change her luck she will have to stay in touch with the painter and will have to believe him. But that will part her away from her boyfriend.

The story of the film is about the premonitions and ghostly experiences like the person who is going to be killed is alone and he is followed by some kind of spirit or he gets attacked at some point of his life. You could feel the horror factor and the movie doesn’t go to show any scientifically designed reason or logic behind the incidents and the movie looses grip in the second part.

Most of the previously released horrors like ‘Phoonk’ and ‘1920’ had poor depiction of climax and same can be said for ‘Raaz - The Mystery Continues’ that picks up smoothly in the first part but later in the movie you don’t get proper twists and turns to keep you glued. The depiction and cinematography is attractive. The love songs of the movie have already got many fans and the costumes, look and performance of lead Emraan Hashmi and Kangna Ranaut is impressive.

Story
Krish Jagarlamudi (not the Gamyam director, but hero Ram) is a spoilt brat who looks for shortcuts to earn fame and money. Unable to clear his graduation and get a job, Krish plans to love and marry a rich girl Manju (Sheela) who is going to USA. In the process he meets another girl Meenu (Hansika Motwani) and really falls in love with her. The rest of the story is all about when both these girls come to know about the cheating nature of Krish. There is also a political twist to the story.
